City Green was established in 1999 as a charitable organization. Then called "All About Us Canada", doing business as City Green, the environmental group assumed numerous positions from 1999-2004, including:
As a member of Green Communities Canada, a national association of non-profit organizations, City Green continued to work towards delivering innovative, practical, and environmental solutions to BC households.
By 2005 ‘All About Us Canada’ legally incorporated as City Green Solutions, giving up the organization's charitable status, and transforming ourselves into an enterprising non-profit society. This transition was linked to the organizations goal to focus the organizational activities on energy efficiency, green building and related topic specific services that reduce the impacts of climate change. This transition also marked a proactive and formalized approach to shift from a traditional non-profit fundraising model to a ‘fee for service’ social enterprise model.
From 2006- 2009 City Green continued to market and deliver the Energuide for Homes and ecoENERGY Retrofit-Homes programs and implement a variety of projects and programs, including:
Currently City Green holds the contracts to deliver energy efficiency assessments for both the LiveSmart BC Efficiency Assistance Program - the Province's first low income weatherization project, and the BC Hydro ECAP program.
Whether providing individual home energy assessments, group presentations or administering community energy efficiency pilot projects, City Green Solutions is at the forefront of the energy efficiency assessment services industry. We are guided by a commitment to social responsibility, and to improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work.
Collaborations with local and provincial governments, utilities, building owners, social housing providers and contractors strengthen our ability to increase the awareness of energy efficiency benefits - for individuals, communities, and the economy.
