Thermographer Qualifications

International Thermal Imaging Certification

City Green’s Thermographer meets the educational requirements of American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification and is a Natural Resources Canada Certified Energy Advisor for the ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes program. Our infrared camera meets the specifications for small and large buildings as set out in the Government of Canada National Master Specification NMS 022713.

Thermal Imaging theory and science

The interpretation of these images requires an understanding of thermodynamics, the thermal properties of building materials, building science, and the thermal conditions required for detecting specific building problems. (Read more about the importance of thermographer training on the SENWHI House Inspections blog.)

Be sure your thermographer is highly trained

Many inspectors will tell you that they are a “certified thermographer” but this does not necessarily mean that they are qualified to perform an infrared home inspection since there is no legal standard for thermographer certification. An infrared camera is easy to use, but the image only shows differences in surface temperature.
